When the weather dips below a certain temperature in Australia, Melbourne specifically, everyone books a holiday weather it's to Queensland, Europe or the USA it's time to get ahead of the seasonal depression.
This is my first trip without my sidekick to New York so it's bittersweet. A lot more walking because Tully isn't a fan of walking and a lot more New York traditional, not so healthy, eats.
Sarah's Guide to New York City
Workouts: The workouts hit different in the states and to be honest you could skip the workouts because you will walking 10k + steps a day. Want a class that inspires you and feels like free therapy you have to hit up Soul Cycle, want to feel the burn and not be able to laugh for a few days because your abs have been worked like they never have before go to Solidcore pilates and for you zen time or a hot sculpt class Y7 are the studio for you. Shopping: New York is renown for it's shopping, especially in SoHo. They all love Aussie brands here but expect to pay double if you buy Venroy in the city, you're better off buying it before you travel at home. Kith has a few stores around SoHo area where you can pick up some cool streetwear and sneakers. If you're after high end shopping stick between Broadway and West Broadway.Eats: I have a few good friends in the city so I have been spoilt for meals out. Via Carota for an amazing cacio e pepe, I had one of my favourite nights sitting at a bar making new friends at Blue Ribbon Braisserie - the bartender James is phenomenal, sushi you can't go wrong with Blue Ribbon (eat the crispy tuna rice) or my favourite sugarfish. I am not one to gate keep so here are some Aussie's who have lived in the city for many, many years and their go-to places and a picture of a dirty Prince st pizza slice which was heaven. I was very lucky one of our friends hooked me up with a reservation at Carbone. I went with a couple of friends and the service was phenomenal and the food was entertainment. A really cool experience if you can book ahead, it's one of the hardest reservations in New York. Going out: Going out back home is a rare occasion but in New York, you go where the night takes you. If you have a friend with a Soho House membership you're in luck. I spent a couple of nights there which was fun. The night I had the most fun was hitting up a bar in the Financial District called Ulysses Irish Pub we danced and sang to live music until the early morning. One my final night it was the Aussies night out and we hit up Soho House first then followed by a bar called Casablanca.
